10 Commonly Misspelt Words – Quiz 2020

No matter how well you are in terms of spoken English, 90% of the people who took this quiz failed miserably. I tried myself and boy, what an epic fail it was! All these years I thought accommodate is spelt with two ‘Cs’ and one ‘M’ and here I am facing the reality.

The one reason I love and detest the most about this language is there are ample of words that are spelt one way and pronounced differently. Now we don’t need to get into technicalities such as homonym, homophone etc.

If you feel you are a maestro, here’s a quick challenge. Just 10, only 10 words to check your proficiency. If you could score at least 7 or more, Congratulations you are the new Mr/Ms Spell bee.

Here is the list of commonly misspelt words


#1 A space entirely devoid of matter.

#2 Ready or likely to attack or confront;

#3 Shaming or degrading willingly

#4 A chart or series of pages showing the days, weeks, and months of a particular year, or giving particular seasonal information.

#5 Without doubt or very clearly

#6 Forming or viewed as a unit apart or by itself.

#7 A period of a thousand years, especially when calculated from the traditional date of the birth of Christ.

#8 The process of preserving a condition or situation or the state of being preserved.

#9 When spelt wrongly

#10 The sea that is east of Central America and north of South America


So…how was it??

If you guys feel like a noob on getting the results, the feeling is mutual. Hahaha.. with a score of 6, I am really ‘embarrassed’ to call myself a language fanatic. The takeaway is, I am confident and no longer going to misspell the above words.

This list of most misspelt words is something that has been going the rounds be it people vigorously searching them on Google, or be it Quora or Youtube tuts for meaning.
